2009 Dynamic VM summit

The VM summit is taking place on Wednesday, March 25th 2009 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare hotel in Chicago, as part of the 2009 Python community conference, PyCon.

It is a free, full-day, invite-only event intended to bring together people doing cutting edge work on implementing virtual machines for dynamic programming languages. It’s not designed to be a dog-and-pony show but a hardcore, technical working session.

We offer hotel rooms with privileged pricing ($105/night for a double room) through PyCon’s hotel reservation system. Make sure you do not select the Hyatt Regency when booking! The Crowne Plaza O’Hare is conveniently located just minutes away from the Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).

When your accommodation and travel are set, please be sure to e-mail Sarah at sarah@@@radian.org to let her know, since we need to track both how many people are coming, and what their names are. Due to limited space, you can only register (and attend) the VM summit if you’ve been invited.

When we begin, each group will give a 5-10 minute presentation focusing on two key areas: the biggest (open) problems and the biggest successes of their VM. After all the groups are through with the presentations, we’ll spend the rest of the day diving into whichever topics the room wishes to discuss.

We’ll have representatives of the CPython, PyPy, GemStone MagLev, Rubinius, Mozilla TraceMonkey, Parrot, Sun Da Vinci Machine, Microsoft DLR, Factor, Cog, Jython and JRuby communities.

Feel free to e-mail the summit chair, Ivan Krstić, at krstic@@@solarsail.hcs.harvard.edu with any questions.
